Privacy policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains, in plain English, what information Farm Simple Site collects, why, and the choices and rights you have. We've tried to keep it jargon-free.
Last updated: 28 June 2026.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we never ask you for personal details to read our guides.
- We don't sell your data — ever.
- We only use advertising cookies if you choose “Accept all” on our cookie banner.
- You can change your cookie choice any time on our cookie policy page.
Who we are
Farm Simple Site is a free gardening resource and a Flex Innovations initiative. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the “data controller” for this website. For any privacy or data question, email us at hello@flexinnovations.uk.
What information we collect
We keep data collection to a minimum:
- Technical logs. Like almost every website, our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) automatically processes basic technical information — such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request — to deliver the site securely and protect against abuse.
- Cookies. Essential cookies make the site work. With your consent, advertising cookies may also be set. See our cookie policy for the full detail.
- Your cookie choice. When you choose “Essential only” or “Accept all”, that preference is stored locally in your own browser — it never reaches us as personal data.
We do not run newsletters, accounts or contact forms that collect personal details. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
Why we're allowed to use it (legal bases)
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the site secure, available and working properly (the technical logs above).
- Consent — for advertising cookies. These are only used if you actively opt in, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
Advertising
To keep Farm Simple free, we display ads through Google AdSense. If you consent to advertising cookies, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads and measure their performance. Depending on your settings, these ads may be personalised. You can review and control how Google uses your data at Google My Ad Center and read how Google handles data in its partner-sites policy.
Analytics
If we use analytics, we choose privacy-friendly, aggregated measurement to understand which guides are most useful. This is not used to identify you personally, and any analytics cookies are covered by your cookie choice.
Who we share information with
We don't sell or trade your information. We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to run the site:
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery and security.
- Google AdSense — advertising (only with your consent).
International transfers
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they are required to protect it to UK standards through appropriate safeguards (such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses).
How long we keep data
Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operating the site, then deleted or anonymised. Your cookie preference stays in your browser until you clear it or change your choice.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or erase it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent for cookies at any time.
To exercise any of these, email us at hello@flexinnovations.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
Farm Simple is a general-audience gardening site and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “last updated” date above.
